A New Fashion Trend

It’s time to get up and dress up.

I just love what Paul is saying in the book of Colossians: Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.

Colossians 3:12-13 NIV “Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.”

Putting on our spiritual clothing simply means that we need to approach each day with a new attitude that says; “God I know I’m going to face a lot of challenges today, but help me to endure whatever comes my way with patience. Help me to be kind, gentle and compassionate toward everyone I meet. Many people don’t even think about getting dressed spiritually. I don’t know about you, but I may change clothes two to three times in order to be sure that what I am wearing looks good on me. We should consider that some behaviors (offense, unforgiveness), simply don’t look good on God’s children and, just as we change our clothing if it doesn’t look right or fit well, we should be prepared to change our behavior if it doesn’t look good on us.

Isaiah 61:3 says, “To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the LORD, that He may be glorified.” I want to highlight “Put on a garment of praise for a spirit of heaviness.”

A garment is like a coat. Before you can put on a coat of praise, you have to take off the coat of heaviness.

Sometimes we wonder why we don’t have any joy, or why we are not passionate. That’s when we’re wearing the wrong coat. (Nothing good is happening for me, I never get any breakthroughs, I’m such an impatient person). Does that resonate with your spirit?

I want to give you a fashion tip: that coat of discouragement doesn’t look good on you at all. The coat of self pity is out of fashion.

The coat of bitterness over who left you, and what you didn’t get, doesn’t fit you anymore. It’s restricting you from coming into a new season.

Now do yourself a favor and take off the old garment of heaviness. Take off that coat of “I can’t do this”

Put on a new garment of Praise

-       I am blessed

-       I am valuable

-       I am beautiful

-       I have a good personality; everywhere I go people love me

Design your own new coat that will fit you perfectly for your next season. Stand out, walk on the runway with confidence with your own design. “You were made to stand out”

Forgive quickly

Love deeply
