Hiding God’s Word in your Heart
“Keep all earthly treasures out of your heart, and let the Written Word of God become your treasure.” - PL
The most valuable thing in your life that satan seeks to go after is the Written Word of God in your heart. The Bible teaches us, faith comes by hearing and hearing the Word of God. Why? The Word of God is full of promises, power, protection, provision, and so much life to our spirit. If you want to get to know Him, dig into His Word and allow Him to take you on the best journey of your life.
Whenever we receive the Word of God into our heart, the forces of darkness, knowing the power of the Word, comes quickly to steal it from your heart. This is what the Lord Jesus brought to light in the parable of the sower.
(Mark 4:14-15 NLT) “The farmer plants seed by taking God’s word to others. The seed that fell on the footpath represents those who hear the message, only to have Satan come at once and take it away.”
“Make God your dwelling place and He will supernaturally bring exaltation to you in everything you do.”
This portion of scripture explains why some believers hear the Word, and don’t understand it. Satan is the father of lies and this is his strategy; to bring confusion to God’s people when they hear the Word of the Lord. They find it difficult to comprehend. Why? Because right after receiving a wonderful prophecy, all hell seems to break loose against them… this is because satan will do anything in his power to steal God’s Word from our hearts.
He tried this same trick with Jesus, questioning the Word that had been spoken concerning Him to prove Himself.
(Luke 4:3-4 AMPC) “Then the devil said to Him, If You are the Son of God, order this stone to turn into a loaf [of bread]. And Jesus replied to him, It is written, Man shall not live and be sustained by (on) bread alone but by every word and expression of God.”
Jesus could answer satan immediately in this portion of scripture, why? He had the Written Word well-grounded in His heart.
Here are some ways that can help you to get the Word well-grounded in your heart.
· Create a habit of reading the Word daily.
According to Psalm 1:1-3, a person who meditates regularly on the Word of God will be like a healthy, thriving and fruitful tree which is planted by the rivers of water. So, if you want to be spiritually healthy, strong and fruitful, make it a habit to meditate daily on verses of scripture.
Pray and ask the Holy Sprit to give you a fresh infilling and revelation of the Word
Read the Word out loud, remember “faith only comes by hearing”.
Take one scripture, write it down and meditate on it until it becomes a revelation to you. To meditate on a verse is to personally reflect on, ponder, or think deeply about it.
Do what the Word says.
Don’t keep it to yourself.
Read the Bible before bedtime.
I would like to encourage you to deliberately guard the Word in you heart.
Colossians 3:16 NKJV says, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly; that means let the Word settle and take deep root in your heart. Don’t let the Word remain on the “surface-soil” of your heart where the enemy can reach it and knock it out you when you face trials, troubles and tribulations.
The Holy Spirit takes the Written Word and directs your thoughts, deeper reflections and meditations on the fullness of God’s truth. He than seals them deep within your heart and the blessings they produce in your life will flow to others as well.
