Make God your Dwelling Place
“A Christian is the dwelling place of the living God. He created me, He chose me, He came to dwell in me, because He wanted me. Now that you have known how much God is in love with you it is but natural that you spend the rest of your life radiating that love.”
- Mother Teresa -
The first day of the New Year is by far one of the most important days you will have this year. You position your mind to set new goals or resolutions for the New Year.
“One thing have I asked of the Lord, that will I seek, inquire for, and [insistently] require: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord [in His presence] all the days of my life, to behold and gaze upon the beauty [the sweet attractiveness and the delightful loveliness] of the Lord and to meditate, consider, and inquire in His temple.” - Psalm 27:4 AMPC
What do you desire above all else? What does your heart long for this New Years? I would like to encourage and share with you, what I heard from the Lord for 2023…
“Make God your dwelling place and He will supernaturally bring exaltation to you in everything you do.”
“Dwell in Me, and I will dwell in you. [Live in Me, and I will live in you.] Just as no branch can bear fruit of itself without abiding in (being vitally united to) the vine, neither can you bear fruit unless you abide in Me.” - John 15:4 AMPC
The first thing we need to do is make a quality decision that we will Dwell in Him, so that Christ the Anointed One will have a place in us to dwell in.
“I will dwell in Your tabernacle forever; let me find refuge and trust in the shelter of Your wings.” - Psalm 61:4 AMPC
‘Abiding’ has a continual, hour-by-hour nature to it; a constant looking to Jesus through His written Word. Make a quality decision this year to avoid gospel-amnesia and remember His unfailing grace. We as believers cannot afford to be absent from His presence in this day and age!
To abide in Christ requires fellowship with the Holy Spirit:
· Walk by faith,
· Spend time in His Word,
· Worship your way through the day,
· Pray until you become prayer itself.
Secondly, create in yourself a heart like David …“dwell in the house of the Lord”. “Earnestly I seek you, my soul thirsts for you.”
I pray that the Holy Spirit will spark within you a fresh fire to want more of God. May you have a yearning with a holy urgency to know the depths and riches of the love of Jesus Christ, which is laid hold of through ‘abiding’.
David longed to live in the tabernacle; the dwelling place of God’s presence, and to be surrounded everyday by the beauty, glory and wondrous mystery of Almighty God. He had a personal desire to meet Him daily, to know Him and His character.
According to Psalms 27:4, David asked of the Lord to Dwell in His House. The Bible teaches us when we dwell in the secret place of the Most High God, we shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty. Be good to yourself from the start of this year and dwell in the presence of the Lord and invest in your stability as a believer.
David found a place for himself where he could know and enjoy God. Where is that place for you? Find your tabernacle…a faith-filled, supernatural church this year. Passsionately pursue that dwelling place. When you make that ‘one thing’ the ultimate goal of your life, you will have no room to forget how good, great and sovereign God is.
God will supernaturally bring exaltation to your life
Job 22:29 - “When they cast you down, and you say, Exaltation will come!” Then He will save the humble person.”
Create a home in your heart for God to dwell in. You need to be prepared to go through some purification because God wants to do great and mighty things in and through you in order to receive all the glory through your daily and upright living.
“Then Joshua told the people, “Purify yourselves”, for tomorrow the Lord will do great wonders among you.” – Joshua 3:5 NLT
Declare this prayer…
Lord I invite You into my heart to make it Your dwelling place. Help me to keep myself holy so that You will dwell in my heart. I want to dwell in Your house and gaze on Your beauty. Lead me according to Your will and help me inherit Your blessings. In Jesus Name!
Forgive quickly
Love deeply
