BUT GOD!

But God Inspirational Image
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the Rock and firm Strength of my heart and my Portion forever.” – Psalm 73:26 (AMPC)

When the storm raged and the waves threatened to engulf me, my strength failed and my hope dimmed—but God, in His infinite mercy, reached down and rescued me, turning my despair into triumph.

Two of the most powerful (and encouraging) words in Scripture are “BUT GOD.”

Have you ever heard these quotes?

  • “The odds were against her, ‘But God!’ provided a way where there seemed to be none.” (Ephesians 3:20)
  • “They thought all hope was lost, ‘But God!’ had a different plan in store.” (Romans 8:28)
  • “In the darkest hour, ‘But God!’ brought light and redemption.” (Psalm 23:4)
  • “The enemy thought he had won, ‘But God!’ had the final say.” (1 Corinthians 15:57)
  • “When fear gripped their hearts, ‘But God!’ gave them courage to persevere.” (Isaiah 41:10)
  • “Despite the chaos and uncertainty, ‘But God!’ remained faithful and steadfast.” (2 Timothy 2:13)
  • “When the situation seemed impossible, ‘But God!’ worked miracles beyond imagination.” (Luke 18:27)
  • “They were broken and weary, ‘But God!’ restored their strength and purpose.” (Isaiah 40:31)

I have a precious daughter in the faith who has imprinted these words on my heart since the day I met her. “BUT GOD” …. I’ve learned from her walk with the Lord that no matter the circumstances we face in life, as we consider the uncertainty and turmoil around the world, she reminds me to use these two impactful, life-changing words, “BUT GOD!”

Many verses in the Old and New Testaments contain “But God!” Every time I read a verse with this simple phrase, it brings incredibly good news—especially by what follows. Many people believe they have too much baggage, too many sins to overcome, too much of everything else to qualify for forgiveness.

One of the most powerful things I can tell them are scriptures that contain a “But God” reminder:

  • “But God is my helper. The Lord keeps me alive!” Psalms 54:4 (NLT)
  • “But God still loved us with such great love. He is so rich in compassion and mercy.” Ephesians 2:4 (TPT)

Take a minute and consider the many “but God” moments that have empowered you and changed your life:

  • When your marriage was on the rocks “but God” (Ephesians 5:22-33)
  • When your kids seemed to be drifting away from the Lord, doing their own thing “but God” (Proverbs 22:6)
  • You find yourself in a financial stress “but God” (Philippians 4:19)
  • When a doctor brings bad news about your health “but God” (Psalm 41:3)

Whatever the situation, we can revel in these two priceless words. “BUT GOD”.

It is because of the gospel of this simple yet powerful phrase that we can praise God in all things and be confident that He who has begun a good work in us will perform it until the Day of Jesus Christ.

Without God’s intervening grace known as “But God” moments, we would be completely lost. Even in my failings, God said, “I choose you.” These two words remind us how truly amazing God’s love for His children is. Life is not complete without dark clouds and silent tunnels. No matter how hopeless the situation looks or how discouraged you find yourself, “But God” moments are when God comes in and offers a new path and hope for our lives.

Personal Testimony

I would like to share a personal testimony with you that will encourage you to keep seeking the face of God and not give up.

Both our sons drifted away from the Lord during their high school years. As a mother, I knew the only thing that would save them and bring them back to God was prayer. So, what did I do? I prayed the written Word! There were times when I was very discouraged, but God showed up in my cries of prayer.

“But in my distress, I cried out to the Lord; yes, I cried to my God for help. He heard me from his sanctuary; my cry reached his ears.” – 2 Samuel 22:7 (NLT)

During this time, I had to learn how to be obedient and trust the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Today, both my sons are saved, working in the ministry with us, and the greatest blessing is that they both married women who love the Lord and serve alongside them.

“In our journey of faith, never forget the transformative power of ‘But God’ moments. They are reminders that God’s love and grace are always present, offering hope, redemption, and a new beginning. So, in every trial and triumph, may we hold onto these two words as anchors of our faith, knowing that with God, all things are possible.”

Forgive quickly and love deeply!
Ps. Lil
