Sanity Returned

“After this time had passed, I, Nebuchadnezzar, looked up to heaven. My sanity returned, and I praised and worshiped the Most High and honored the one who lives forever. His rule is everlasting, and his kingdom is eternal.” Daniel‬ 4:34‬ NLT‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

“When my sanity returned to me, so did my honor and glory and kingdom. My advisers and nobles sought me out, and I was restored as head of my kingdom, with even greater honor than before.” Daniel‬ 4:36‬ NLT

What is Sanity?

Sanity is the ability to think and behave in a normal manner. It’s what we gain when we shift our perspective, when we STOP focusing on the painful situations and challenging circumstances of life, and instead begin to focus on changing our own hearts’ attitudes and behaviors.

What happens when Sanity returns to you?

Just like Nebuchadnezzar, you start praising and worshiping God, and  honor comes back into your heart towards the One who upholds the Universe. Sanity returns when we begin to understand how much God loves us, and that He has a great plan and purpose for us. You get restored with honor and glory and in your rightful position as a child of God. The goal of Sanity is to help us protect and nurture our hearts. We as believers need a heart that is both strengthened and softened by God.

A heart filled with a NEW Spirit, and God promises to provide exactly that kind of heart. Ezekiel‬ 11:19‬ NLT “And I will give them singleness of heart and put a new spirit within them. I will take away their stony, stubborn heart and give them a tender, responsive heart, ”‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬Only with such a heart can we fulfill our highest calling as Christians, that of being in a heart to heart relationship with Jesus our Saviour. Finally, the result of finding SANITY is finding a new you and a new life.

The “S” in Sanity – STOP

It is time to:

  • STOP hoarding your hurts and painful experiences.

  • STOP ignoring your own issues of the heart and mind.

  • STOP repeating your own negative thought processes, and behaviour.

  • STOP hoarding pain.

  • STOP pushing God out of the way. He is the Way…

The “A” in Sanity - Assemble Supportive People.

Ecclesiastes 4:9  teaches us that, two are better than one, for they can help each other succeed in life. When life gets tough, its important to have spirit-filled people, who can encourage you and people who can pray with you. You need a strong supportive structure to uphold you through difficult times.

The “N” in Sanity - No More Excuses.

I can remember when I made a quality decision that I was going to serve and love God with all of my mind, my heart, my soul, and my strength. - (Mark 12:30-31). I had to get rid of every excuse that blocked me from building a passionate relationship between me and my Saviour.  I promise you its not easy, its still a daily challenge for me, but I persevere to break every mold of excuses in me.

The “I” in Sanity – Implement a Plan of Action

Implementing a plan of action for changing your negative thought life,  is a way for you to see where you’re at, and more importantly, where you are going. “YES, its time for reflection”.  This step involves establishing what needs to be done, identifying any obstacles, and prioritizing your goals in order to find SANITY.  When you put a plan of action together, make sure it’s all about trusting God to be your Navigator. Scripture says, ‘’we make a plan, but the Lord determines our ‘steps’”(Prov.16:9).

The “T” in Sanity – Trust The Voice of The Holy Spirit

The essence of finding peace and SANITY is in the intentional development of our faith in God, and our relationship with the Father, His Son, and the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit can lead us or sometimes restrain us in our decision making process, and that’s when we need to put our trust in the voice of the Holy Spirit.

Prov.3:5-6 says, “Trust in the Lord with All your heart and do NOT lean on your own understanding”. Remember the Holy Spirit lives within you. - (John14:17).  When we trust and obey the voice of God, we conquer satan with his demons, and then we can celebrate a true Victory.

The “Y” in Sanity – Yield Everything to God

Yielding to God is to let go of all our emotional and mental junk, and allow God to cleanse us, heal us, free us, and transform us. Galatians 5:16 AMPC “But I say, walk and live (habitually) in the (Holy)Spirit (responsive to and controlled and guided by the Spirit); then you will certainly not gratify the cravings and desires of the flesh(of human nature without God).” When I surrendered everything to God, my life, my husband, my children, the position of a pastors wife, emotions, pain, etc., I felt a heavy weight literally lift from my heart, because I was finally trusting God with everything that I was in control of. Freedom was my portion!

Our experiences alone cannot be our guide, every experience must be controlled and understood by the written Word of God.

My precious friend, God will give us the strength and the SANITY we need to live a life that brings honor to Him, and glory to His Name. I pray that your Sanity returns just like Nebuchadnezzar, so that you can serve and worship God who brought you back to life.

Forgive quickly

Love deeply

Ps.Lil ❤
